Elizabeth is a professionally trained actor (Drama Studio London), a writer and poet. I currently have four ‘ready-made’ storytelling workshops (which also encompass drama and poetry) for school children to offer:

  • Salt and the Great War – Violet’s Story - new for 2014 as a commemoration of WW1, this is the story of Violet Hamlett, my great grandmother, the wife of a Winsford salt baron. She tells how her’s and the women of Winsford’s lives are turned upside down by a war that would leave no family untouched. (Suitable for key stages 2 and 3).
  • The Quest for the Tellings is based on my book, beautifully illustrated by Michael Troy. Suitable for Foundation to Yr 6, after an introductory story, students are invited to come with Elish on a quest to find the stolen Tellings, making their own stories collaboratively on the way.
  • The BIG Story presents the opportunity to explore Bible stories, both familiar and not so familiar, told in character. Listeners are invited to share in the story through costume, props, sounds, smells and participation. The stories can be told as a one-off assembly, as workshops or events, individually or themed to explore God’s BIG Story. (Suitable for any age).
  • Murder in the Red Barn is suitable for key stage 3. It examines the true and tragic tale of Maria Marten who was murdered in Polstead, Suffolk in 1827. Through her story, the listener is immersed in cultural history, and is able to consider the impact of newspapers (particularly relevant at this time) and the theatre upon society’s perception of the crime.
Each of these workshops has broad cross-curricular applications.
If there is nothing to whet the appetite here, I am happy to discuss any specific requirements you may have.
